I have been an artist my entire life. My creativity, however, has taken many different forms, and my journey to becoming a graphic and web designer has been somewhat of a circuitous route.
I began my artistic career as a scenic artist, painting sets and backdrops for the Colorado Opera Festival, and later, the Arena Stage in Washington DC.
When I moved to Seattle to complete an art degree at the University of Washington, I discovered textile design, and started my own small business designing and creating hand dyed and hand painted fabrics.
After having my own apparel and accessories line for 7 years, I transitioned again into the creation of hand dyed textiles for other apparel and interiors companies. I created surface designs for clothing, wall paper, floor coverings, bed linens, wrapping paper, and countless other applications. At this time I began to incorporate computer graphics into my work. Soon I was working exclusively as a textile designer using Photoshop and Illustrator, selling my work for mass production to larger manufacturing companies. After that time, I returned to school at the Art Institute of Colorado, to develop my computer graphics skills in my newest area of artistic passion: web design.
My philosophy of graphic and web design is simple: I believe that in the constant tug of war between technology and artistic expression, technology can only be your tool. Ultimately there is no substitute for what has always brought life to art: color, composition, line, passion and energy.
What I bring to my work in graphic and web design is my life-long commitment and experience in these areas of artistic expression, and a desire to help my clients realize the vision of their own businesses in a creative way.
